What is drylining and plastering?

Drylining and plastering are two distinct techniques used to finish interior walls and ceilings.

In drylining, large panels of drywall are attached to the interior framing of the building. These panels consist of a gypsum core sandwiched between layers of paper or fiberglass.

Plastering is the process of covering uneven walls and ceilings with a mixture of cement, sand a water.

Firstly, the surface is prepared by removing any dirt, dust, paper, or loose bits of existing plaster. Then the basecoat is added, which will allow the plaster to bond to the walls. The plaster is applied by hand and leaves the surface with a smooth and decorative finish.

When deciding between drylining and plastering you should consider factors such as the desired finish, project timeline, budget, and the specific requirements of the space being finished.
